

THE ISLAND
The country Trinidad & Tobago consists of 2 islands, of which Tobago is the smallest. There is a relaxed vibe on the island, the residents like to let tourists enjoy the culture, music and parties. The island is very versatile: it offers fantastic palm beaches with a clear blue sea, which are suitable for relaxing but above all perfect for water activities. In addition, it is a very green island with large forests, unique waterfalls and many unique birds.
During the day and in the evening it is safe to walk on the street, cycle and drive a car. Please be aware that traffic drives on the lefthand site.
However, this advice does not apply to Trinidad.
The local currency is the TT dollar, cash withdrawal is possible in many places. This is useful for taxis or small food/drink stands, for example. Furthermore, payment by card is often possible. Prices are currently slightly below Dutch level.
Communicating with the population is easy, because the official language is English. Sometimes the local dialect is a little more difficult to understand.
The weather, you can expect an average warm temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, including the sea water. No wetsuit necessary, but it is highly recommended to wear lycra to protect yourself from the bright sun. The least chance on tropical rain showers is in the period from January to May.
The period around and during Carnival is offcourse very fun and lively, but keep in mind that it is a very busy period and all accommodations and flights will be booked quickly and expensive.
